Vyapam Scam: Sudhir arrested for constables’ recruitment fraud

Mining baron Sudhir Sharma , who had been absconding in the Vyapam scam case, surrendered before the District and Session’s court on July 25, 2014. He was presented before CJM Pankaj Singh Maheshwari amidst heavy police security on July 26. The court has surrendered him to police remand till July 30, even though the STF had demanded him to be placed under its scrutiny till August 3.

Sudhir Sharma has been arrested on the charges of playing a key role in the police constables’ recruitment fraud. However, at the Special Task Force (STF) office, Sharma reiterated that he is innocent and will be proved so when the true facts about Vyapam scam get revealed. Defence counsel Pratul Shandilya tried to rescue Sharma with the arguments that he had already ‘surrendered’ and STF has interrogated him several times.

Sudhir Sharma has also been charged with sub-Inspectors’ recruitment fraud but STF has not arrested him on that account.

According to the STF DSP DS Baghel, Sudhir Sharma had facilitated recruitment of six candidates as police constables and four candidates to pass the SI test. STF will investigate role of Sudhir Sharma in all the wide-spread net of Vyapam scam recruitment and admission fraud, including MP PMT scam and Milk Federation scam.

Audi cuts spare-part prices in China amid anti-monopoly probe

SHANGHAI/BEIJING: Volkswagen AG's premium brand Audi said it would cut spare-part prices in China as global automakers rush to change their pricing strategies after Chinese anti-monopoly regulators began probing the auto industry.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's state planner, is investigating the industry amid domestic media complaints that foreign carmakers, using a dominant market position, are overcharging Chinese customers on products and spare parts.

"As a premium market leader Audi has made the price adjustments proactively," Audi said in an emailed statement over the weekend, adding the new prices will be effective Aug 1. "Audi and its joint venture FAW-Volkswagen support the efforts of the NDRC to examine the pricing in the after-sales area in China."

CBSE schools delisted from participating in sports

The schools of Central Board of Secondary Education have been delisted from taking part in the district, state and national level games which are structured by Rajasthan education department. Due to this, many students who have trained themselves arduously for diverse games will go to waste as they won’t be allowed to partake in the games.

The reason for excluding CBSE schools have not been clarified by the education department but officials stated that government schools do not get the opportunity to participate in such levels, might be the reason. An official stated, “After delay in admission process of college by bringing in percentile pattern, CBSE students will now lose out on games and sports at diverse levels, reason being, the student gets engaged in sports and different exams when selected for state level and thus creates problem for the department.
