Gujarat CM cancels GHB draw for affordable houses

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel cancelled the online draw for 8,000 affordable houses built by the Gujarat Housing Board after irregularities were alleged, a top official of the housing body said.

Commenting on non-receipt of call letters by thousands of aspirants who had cleared the bank exams and the interview, she said “there has been a slight delay in the process. They will be getting the letters in due course.” 

She said the banks indicate to the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), which is entrusted with the task of selection, the number of officers they need. The question of sending call letter may only be “a small aberration… and I don’t see any other reason for it.” 

On reports of many candidates who take up bank jobs only to quit in a short time, Vijayalakshmi Iyer said banks normally recruit about 30 per cent more staff than required to meet such contingencies.
It was possible that the selected candidates might not join a particular bank for some reason. But since they had gone through the entire selection process, it may not be that they did not prefer a banking career.

New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party had promised to release the names of the people who had
money accumulated in Swiss banks. Their reaction to the recent reports about an increase in the amount of money deposited By Indians in these banks is awaited.

According to the latest figures released by the Central Banks of Switzerland, the money deposited by Indians in banks in Switzerland was, in 2013, about 2.3 billion Swiss franc, which is approximately Rs. 14,000 crore.

This is an increase from the 1.42 billion Swiss franc that were deposited in 2012, which means this year the deposits have seen a rise of about 40%. The numbers were disclosed to Indian authorities.

It is not clear if the increase in deposits is due to opening of new accounts or if it is a further deposit in existing accounts. Additionally, the Swiss authorities have not released names of the account holders.

Ford has revealed its plans of launching a right hand drive Mustang in Sri Lanka, and this could lead to a speculation that this vehicle will could also come to India.
